I noticed that we think alike and about 90% of your predictions were the exact same as mine (:
ReplyDeleteI love Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, and The Theory Of Everything; enjoyed, with reservations, Selma and Whiplash; and absolutely hated American Sniper (right-wing support our troops blindly no matter what garbage) and Birdman (pretentious drivel, with some really atrocious performances, including one that is likely to win an Oscar - blech!) I predicted 8 for 8 in this category (Supporting Actor, Makeup/Hairstyling were the only other categories in got all the nominees - went 4 for 5 in almost all other categories)
But my #1 movie for 2014 was definitely PRIDE. I love every single moment in that superb comedy-drama from England, with the best ensemble cast of the year: Ben Schnetzer, Andrew Scott, Bill Nighy, Dominic West, Jessica Gunning, Imelda Staunton and everyone else in the cast! (:
The only one of your top ten predictions for 2015 I disagree with is Straight Outta Compton. I think there will likely be 9 nominees this year and they comprise all of your other top 9. I hated 2 of these movies: Mad Max: Fury Road was my pick for WORST film of 2015, and The Revenant was my #2 WORST film of the year. Truly hated them!
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed on the poor showing for Creed, The Danish Girl, Trumbo, and Steve Jobs. (Can Steve Jobs sneak in?).
My own personal top ten movies:
1. Room
2. The Big Short
3. Spotlight
4. The Danish Girl
5. Trumbo
6. Carol
7. The Martian
8. Creed
9. Steve Jobs
10. Bad (Serial) Weddings
